Hello Singapore!

I am sitting on the buss with butterflies in my stomach. The buss will drive me to the airport, where I will jump on a flight first to Copenhagen and then to Singapore. Normally I would not feel anxious, but this time I’m not going for a holiday or a winery visit – I am heading for Slush Singapore. I have been up since 3am to get used to the time zone change. Singapore Bling

Following our road trip from London to Amsterdam, me and M decided to take a little wine break. The holiday was off course relaxing, however, when you have so many great restaurants to visit, it is inevitable that there will be a lot of wine on the trip. And so we decided to have a “phast” for the remainder of August. It has actually been convenient as I have had an obscene amount of work to do. I have been preparing for one of the highlights of this year, closing in fast in September; I have been invited to SLUSH start up conference in Singapore to promote Tripsteri with Business Finland – can you believe that! Wineweek 169: Travel the World

We have a saying in Swedish – bort är bra, men hem är bäst. It means that traveling is great, but coming home is even better; kind of a Swedish version of – there is no place like home. There is a reason people settle down where the settle, and often it is the place we want to be. This is how I have felt when we arrived home about a week ago. Stockholm is where I want to live, even if it is freezing cold ten months of the year. Wineweek 168: Whats new in Singapore

Here I am, back at home in Stockholm. It’s dark and minus degrees Celsius – the opposite to warm and colorful Singapore. How many times I thought while walking on the streets of the city state, how nice the warm and humid air feels on my skin. Yet this is home – arctic Sweden. Wineweek 167: Landing in Singapore

We have arrived! To our final destination on the years Tour de Asia – Singapore. Its also our last week of travel. I can count the days that are left with one hand, and tell people back at home – see you next week at work. It’s always nice to go back, but this time I don’t really know what I am going back to. Big changes at work, long story, wont go into it. We have also been sick for a whole week, the whole family (thus no post last Wednesday). So I have very little wine news to report. But I have had a chance to take a few pictures, and the coming (final) days of our trip will be epic. But since I haven’t been anywhere yet, I thought I would remind you of a few of my Singapore favorites. Yeah! The list is out again – Asia’s 50 best restaurants is an annual snapshot of the opinions and experiences of almost 1,000 international restaurant industry experts. This is our bible when we plan which restaurants to visit on our trips to Asia. It has seldom let us down, except once in Singapore (Jaan), and it covers restaurants in cities that are not included in Guide Michelin. Next stop for us will be Hong Kong, so let the browsing begin. Singapore Cocktails Revisited

I have not been out in weeks. WEEKS! Family events, the flu and a new job has kept us indoors. And I am starting to get a little bit numbed. But there is no immediate salvation in sight. This weekend is going to be a home weekend as well, and we just need to rely on our own cellar to entertain us. In the lack of a nice restaurant environment, I thought I would revisit some of the great moments we had on our trip to Asia. To be more specific, our cocktail night out in Singapore. 2016 Singapore Best Eats

I can’t believe it’s already the 7th of January. Only two days left until we return to Sweden. The weather has been quite brutal there, down to minus 20 degrees Celsius and snow. Think about it, going from plus thirty to minus twenty. Brutal! Anyway, as our time in Singapore is still fresh in my mind, I thought I would recap with some of my favorite eats from this (last) years trip. It is quite funny, we ate almost everything but Singaporean food, and kept away from all starred restaurants. Very unlike us, but a good choice I think. Mikkeller Around the World

We have this weird habit: everywhere we travel, we always end up visiting a Mikkeller-bar. Unplanned. It’s an odd habit, especially when we travel in Asia, as it is something available in Stockholm and all over the Nordics. However, there is something fun about “collecting” the locations. There is usually only one Mikkeller bar in a city (with the exception of Copenhagen). Mikkeller is a Danish brewery making a wide range of delicious craft beers. The founders, former math teacher Mikkel Borg Bjergsø and journalist Kristian Klarup Keller started experimenting with hops in their own kitchens, now Mikkeller is exporting their products to 50 countries all over the world. Mikkeller is internationally acclaimed as one of the most innovative and cutting edge brewers in the world. We really like the beers, even the non-alcoholic ones.
